Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen loved playing rough sporting games when she was a kid and excelled in athletics. The passion for sports was matched by a natural talent for performance. Her talent was exemplified by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. At age 14 Maureen was accepted to the Abbey Theater, where her love of classical theatre as well as operatic music was pursued. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after seeing an Maureen screen test. He became captivated by the beauty of her eyes. Before casting her to star for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton together with his friend, Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - - a less slender name to be used for the marquee. With a contract signed to Laughton her next movie was scheduled to be shot at home in America (The Hunchback and Notre Dame (1939)) with RKO Pictures. Maureen had the opportunity to purchase her contract with Laughton when the movie was an immense success. In the year 19 Maureen had already been in two major motion films together with Laughton.
