Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. Maureen was a star athlete and was a lover of rough play. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. This is why she won the majority of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her home country. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
