Maureen Denise McCormick, the only child from Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father taught at school, and her mom was a housewife. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three older brothers. McCormick started dancing and singing from a young age, and would often perform puppet shows in front of the children from her neighborhood. The fairytale story of her rise to fame began when she was crowned the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6 which led to a call from talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who inquired if she'd like to be in show business. Her first major role came in 1964, which was when she appeared in a television commercial featuring Mattels baby doll, Baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she starred in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was soon cast in the play The Wind It up and It breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick auditioned for the part of the oldest daughter in the three towheaded girls on The Brady Bunch. The show featured Florence Henderson, Robert Reed as well as a brand new family. The show lasted for five years. McCormick stated in her 2008 memoir Heres the Story : Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she nearly ended her relationship in the fifth season to Barry Williams, her co-star and brother on screen. He was 19 years old. She was just 16. The woman said it might have been possible, but we didn't have the proper timing.
